Our dreamy body lotion recipe will have you drifting off in no time. Lavender and orange essential oil are ideal companions for bedtime bliss. Lavender is well known for its calming effect, but you might not know that orange can reduce anxiety before sleep. This body lotion also contains shea butter, which is perfect for use after a long soak in the bath to moisturise the skin. Simply rub this all over your body before bed and get ready to wake up in the morning with beautifully smooth skin.
Lavender and Orange Body Lotion Recipe
Ingredients
- 125g shea butter
- 2 tbsp (30ml) grapeseed oil (or a carrier oil of your choice)
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops orange essential oil
Equipment
- large bowl
- electric whisk
- spoon
- jar or pump container
-
Combine the shea butter and grapeseed oil in your bowl
-
Whisk the mixture until it reaches your desired consistency
The longer you whisk, the fluffier and more aerated your lotion will be. For a thinner lotion, whisk until just combined. If you want to try a whipped lotion, keep going until your mixture is stiff.
-
Add in your essential oils
Fold them in gently with a spoon to avoid knocking all the air out of your lotion.
-
Store your lotion
Jars are a good choice for thick, whipped body lotions, while a pump will work for a thinner lotion. Store out of direct sunlight and use within 6 months.
