DIY Bee-Free Lavender Bath Melts - Tender Essence

DIY Bee-Free Lavender Bath Melts

We don’t know about you, but when life starts to get busy, one of the first things that we let slide is our skincare. With three loads of washing to do, an inbox of emails to reply to and dinner to be cooked, moisturising your whole body just doesn’t seem so important any more, does it? It’s times like these that you need an amazing two-in-one product to get the job done for you… That’s where these luxurious aromatherapy bath melts come in and save the day!

DIY Bath Melts
These DIY bath melts are a moisturising dream product!

If you want a multitasking product, this is the DIY for you. Not only will they help to eliminate stress with their soothing scent, but they will deeply nourish your skin. While you’ll usually find that a lot of homemade cosmetics use beeswax, you can often replace this with coconut oil for a nice vegan alternative.

The best part? All of it’s done in the bath. As soon as you step out you don’t even have to think about slathering yourself in body butter. Their gentle mix of essential oils and coconut oil makes them one of our simplest (but oh-so-effective) DIYs yet. Within a few hours, you’ll have little blocks of nourishment ready to be popped in your bath water to leave you feeling super smooth!

DIY Bath Melt Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g coconut oil
  • 20 drops of lavender essential oil
  • Optional: dried flowers or the contents of a herbal tea bag to add texture

You can use any essential oils you want in this recipe. We recommend trying citrus oils for an invigorating bath!

Equipment

  • ice cube mould (preferably silicone)
  • glass jug
  • hob or microwave

  1. Melt the coconut oil

Weigh out your coconut oil into the glass jug, then melt on a low setting in the microwave, or over a pan of boiling water on the hob. Keep stirring regularly until all the oil is liquid.

  2. Mix in your essential oils

Let the coconut oil cool a little, then add your essential oils. Mix well with a spoon to make sure the scent is evenly distributed.

  3. Pour into the mould

Carefully pour the liquid into your mould. If using, sprinkle your dried flowers/tea in at this stage.

  4. Leave to set

Leave the mould in the fridge for a couple of hours until your melts are solid.

  5. Enjoy!

Simply pop the melts out of the mould and they’re ready to work their magic.
